The second step in the dialogue with culture through popular religion/religiosity is to tell the whole story of Jesus Christ and his message of salvation to all and every culture.
After having listened to the people’s stories, heard their deepest needs, understood their questions, and shared their struggles, hopes and fears, we then tell the story of Jesus Christ as found in the Scripture and in the Tradition of the Church (i.e., in her life, doctrine, and worship). Show how this story of Jesus relates with the people’s stories, offers them a vision of salvation (from all their fears and struggles), and fulfills their deepest needs and hopes. Tell the whole story of Jesus which reveals God’s Big Story of salvation. Tell the individual, little stories of salvation that embody the Big Story of God’s salvation. This is the moment of encounter with Jesus Christ, the Living Word of the Father. It is the moment of evangelization in the strict sense.
